Salem, Utah History
Learn some fun fact about Salem, as your potential new hometown.
Settled in 1851 by pioneers from Payson, Salem, Utah, was originally known as “Pond Town” due to the large pond and irrigation dam constructed by early settlers David Fairbanks and David Crocket. Renamed to honor settler Lyman Curtis’ birthplace, this Utah County town evolved from an agricultural community centered around a fort (used until 1870) into a residential city, often called a quiet, picturesque community by its residents. PHD Frequently Asked Questions
We realize that not every question can be answered in a FAQ. If you have additional questions, please use our contact page to ask us anything about Custom Home Design and Build. We actually like questions.
Read the full FAQJust Ask UsIs it less expensive to buy a home or build new?
In our experience, it is less expensive to build a new home than to purchase an existing home. Sometimes a production builder can sell a newly built home for less, but the lack of QUALITY will be evident by promising work QUANTITY to their sub-contractors.
I am researching custom home builders, what makes your company different?
We at Precision Homes & Design value quality and durability. To ensure this, we do things other builders don’t. Some of these are: We compact back-fill of dirt to reduce settling problems; We use more concrete reinforcing steel than the standard; We use brass plumbing fittings instead of plastic; We use screws instead of nails to fasten floor decking to joists to better eliminate possible floor squeaks.
Will a custom-designed, custom-built home be built with a higher standard of quality than those built by production builders?
With Precision Homes & Design the answer is … Absolutely! We take pride in what we build and want our work to last for many decades with as few issues as possible.
How long does it take to build a home?
A custom home typically takes about 6-8 months to build. Supply chain issues lately have been a headache for everyone, which the home-building industry has felt as well.
What are the downsides to a custom Home?
Many decisions have to be made, but you get your vision of a home.
