Lehi, Utah History

Learn some fun fact about Lehi, as your potential new hometown.

Settled in 1850 and incorporated in 1852, Lehi is Utah’s sixth-oldest city. Named after a Book of Mormon prophet, its history evolved from a pioneer agricultural and sugar-beet hub into the modern-day “Silicon Slopes”—a booming, hyper-growth tech and innovation corridor in the northern part of Utah Valley. [1]
Key Milestones in Lehi’s History

  • Early Settlement (1850): Originally known as Dry Creek or Sulphur Springs, the area was renamed Evansville in 1851 after local Mormon Bishop David Evans.
  • City Incorporation (1852): The settlement was officially incorporated on February 5, 1852. Residents petitioned for the name Lehi, drawing a parallel between the early pioneers moving multiple times to find a promised land and the Book of Mormon prophet who did the same.
  • Agricultural & Industrial Era: Early life centered around farming, cattle, and poultry. In 1890, the Utah Sugar Company built its first plant in Lehi, solidifying the sugar beet as the town’s most important cash crop for decades.
  • Historical Transit Hub: Famous for its Old West heritage, the Overland Stagecoach, the Pony Express Trail, and the Transcontinental Telegraph all passed through or near Lehi.
  • Pop Culture & The Lehi Roller Mills: Founded in 1906, the Lehi Roller Mills became a lasting symbol of the city’s agricultural past and gained pop-culture fame as the setting for the 1984 Kevin Bacon movie Footloose.
  • The “Silicon Slopes” Boom: Today, Lehi has transformed into one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. Situated perfectly between Salt Lake City and Provo, it is now the epicenter of Utah’s booming technology and software industry. [2, 5, 6]

Room extensions are a strategic way to expand living space while maintaining the character of your home. With experienced planning and construction management, Precision Homes & Design helps you extend your home in a way that supports how you want to use your additional home space.

With detailed planning and skilled craftsmanship, Precision Homes & Design helps create kitchens that balance efficiency, durability, and design that fits your lifestyle.

Working with Precision Homes & Design ensures the renovation is thoughtfully planned and carefully built.

Cabinet upgrades are one of the most effective ways to enhance storage, organization, and visual appeal in kitchens, bathrooms, and other living areas. Precision Homes & Design helps homeowners evaluate cabinet layout, materials, and hardware so the upgrade improves both appearance and everyday functionality. LeeRen is truly a precision man. Vernal City loves, loves, .loves his blue prints. They told us they had never seen anyone so precise in drawing house plans. No need to red line. He has it down. And he builds that way as well. We love the house he built for us in our senior years: no stairs, wide hall ways, wide door ways, step in shower, as well as many other features. If you want it done right, call LeeRen!

LeeRen helped us with a total gut job reno of our kitchen and mudroom. … He was quick to respond to every ignorant question I had. He would come and show me everything. He made sure we had a final product we are thrilled with at a price point we are also very happy with. He was remarkably on time and his subs were responsive and did a great job. There was one small detail in the stucco that I wasn’t happy with and the sub was back the very next day and fixed it perfectly. I couldn’t recommend him enough. Thank you LeeRen.

PHD Frequently Asked Questions

We realize that not every question can be answered in a FAQ. If you have additional questions, please use our contact page to ask us anything about Custom Home Design and Build. We actually like questions.

Read the full FAQJust Ask Us
  • Is it less expensive to buy a home or build new?

In our experience, it is less expensive to build a new home than to purchase an existing home. Sometimes a production builder can sell a newly built home for less, but the lack of QUALITY will be evident by promising work QUANTITY to their sub-contractors.

  • I am researching custom home builders, what makes your company different?

We at Precision Homes & Design value quality and durability. To ensure this, we do things other builders don’t. Some of these are: We compact back-fill of dirt to reduce settling problems; We use more concrete reinforcing steel than the standard; We use brass plumbing fittings instead of plastic; We use screws instead of nails to fasten floor decking to joists to better eliminate possible floor squeaks.

  • Will a custom-designed, custom-built home be built with a higher standard of quality than those built by production builders?

With Precision Homes & Design the answer is … Absolutely! We take pride in what we build and want our work to last for many decades with as few issues as possible.

  • How long does it take to build a home?

A custom home typically takes about 6-8 months to build. Supply chain issues lately have been a headache for everyone, which the home-building industry has felt as well.

  • What are the downsides to a custom Home?

Many decisions have to be made, but you get your vision of a home.
